Global network of solidarity
This space is built to highlight, celebrate, and connect you with independent photojournalists, authors, activists, speakers, humanitarian relief groups, podcasters, journalists, and small businesses doing the vital work of fighting for humanity.
It is about advocating, standing in the gap, and working to amplify and elevate the voices of the overlooked, the oppressed, the forgotten, and the lost. When we join forces, we gain leverage to make real changes wherever we see injustice and inequity.
This platform is more than a directory of individual storytellers. It is a bridge designed to connect you directly to aid work, humanitarian relief, and grassroots organizations operating in many capacities to care for others.
There are people all around the globe contributing to this movement. In the directory below, you can get to know some of the individuals and organizations using their lives to bring justice, equality, hope, and love to their communities.
I am always looking to add more folks to this network, so please reach out if you or someone you know belongs on this list. I hope Humanizing Through Story and these featured change-makers inspire, challenge, and embolden you to step up and be a part of this movement.

Carrying Forward Jose's Legacy
Photojournalist
Jose Passed Away back in June 2020.
Jose Zurita was one of a kind human, photographer, and journalist. His massive heart for the world around him was like no other. He engaged so deeply with people, making everyone feel loved and like old friends even if it was your first time meeting him. He would give his shirt off his back for a stranger. He was one of the most talented photographers I have ever met and captured the heart and beauty of people in every one of his shots. He saw the beauty in humanity and used his lens to celebrate it. He told stories in ways no one else did. He captured humanity in every photo he took. He went where others would not, he talked with those other overlooked, and he celebrated all.
He had a quiet boldness that invited people in. He walked with humility.
Every time I complimented him on his work he always downplayed it and told me how great my work was. In truth, his work inspired and inspires me, and I learned so much from his work. He was always the better photographer. He fought for justice and harmony wherever he went, and with his calming, welcoming self, he made everyone feel loved and seen.
He put his passion for photography to the side at times to focus more fully on people, family, and empowering others as he worked at The Gateway House in Greenville. He brought joy, dignity, and value to people that many overlooked and pushed away.
His work will forever be highlighted here and will continue to inspire, challenge, bring hope, and bring humanity to people.
Rest in Power my friend.
